2017 Grant Cycle Opens Soon!

The Hesston Community Foundation (HCF), an affiliate of Central Kansas Community Foundation (CKCF), was established to assist in providing resources for a broad range of existing and future charitable needs in the Hesston, Kansas area. HCF supports the mission of Hesston, Kansas, to “Harvest the Good Life” by granting funds to worthy organizations that strive to help Hesston become a better place for all area citizens, now and in the future. They help nurture this mission with the “Sprout to Harvest” initiative, which is centered on six principal areas of need in the Hesston community:

Public Health
Retirement Living
Organizations of Faith & Service
Town Parks & Resources

Approximately $31,000 in grant monies are available for distribution this year through the Hesston Community Foundation Grant cycle, with $22,700 to be awarded from the Impact Fund and $8,300 to be awarded from the Kansas Health Foundation Fund.  For the 2017 grant cycle, the HCF Board of Directors would like to increase our commitment to improving the quality of life for Hesston’s citizens by placing emphasis on our response to requests that address the following issues:  poverty, mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, family unrest and health inequity. Grants that address these issues directly will be given preferential consideration. HCF is prepared to make a significant investment of up to $10,000 per project.  Applicants seeking substantial funding should be very intentional in completing the application, paying special attention to the budget section.  Funding for projects with a focus in other areas will be available but not at the same level.   Sustainability of projects is a consideration that will be evaluated, and HCF does not want to be considered an ongoing source of funding.

Qualified applicants must possess a 501(c)(3) status under the Internal Revenue Service code, be exempt under statute (i.e. educational institution, church, a city or county), or be formally linked to an organization with such designation. Management of the organization should be in the hands of reliable, ethical, and experienced personnel. If the organization was funded in the previous year they MUST submit a follow-up report. Grants may not be awarded retroactively for project/programs. Please ensure that the project/program will not occur until after grants are estimated to be made. If the project/program has already happened or will happen prior to when grants will be made, it is not eligible. The project/program must be completed by Wednesday, February 28, 2018, unless other considerations are shared prior to project/program completion.

Application available online at www.hesstonfoundation.org or www.centralkansascf.org. Completed applications MUST be submitted online to be considered.

All submissions are subject to the process, procedures, and rules of both the Hesston Community Foundation and Central Kansas Community Foundation. Upon review by the HCF Grant Selection Committee, additional information may be requested for clarification. Applicant organizations (awarded and denied) will be notified by Thursday, May 11th, 2017.
